An Interactive History Of New York City

In this course, you will explore the history of New York City through the eyes of the immigrants who have created the most fascinating and diverse metropolis. From the earliest days of the Dutch settlement to the great Irish influx of the 1840s, from the Gilded Age with its wealthy robber barons to the African-American Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s, the contributions of each wave of newcomers will be examined. In addition to viewing film documentaries and reading poems and short stories, you will visit various New York City historical points of interest.
