This course is designed for those who need a refresher on how to write an effective essay. Using the writing process, students learn how to brainstorm, draft, revise, and edit essays that inform, persuade, and analyze ideas. Students write compare/contrast, cause/effect, description, and argumentative essays.

This course focuses on professional written communication. Students learn to write clear, concise, and effective business letters, memos, reports, email, texts, and proposals. Additionally, students learn to target their message for stakeholders (superiors, colleagues, employees, and clients) using effective tone, language structure, and word choice.

We are often judged by our ability to use language that is grammatically correct. In this course, students improve their grammar through targeted oral and written communication exercises. Activities and strategies are customized to meet specific professional and communication needs. Students build confidence as they develop their ability to refine their language structure.
