Language for Healthcare


Are you a doctor, nurse, or other health care professional who needs to communicate with patients, family members and other caregivers in Spanish, French or Mandarin Chinese?

The Baruch College Continuing and Professional Studies (CAPS) courses in Language for Healthcare are designed to help you learn the appropriate language structures, vocabulary, pronunciation and cultural information for communicating effectively about medical and health care -related issues.  Courses include:

  • Mandarin Chinese for Healthcare Professionals
  • Spanish for Healthcare Professionals
  • French for Healthcare Professionals

All courses include engaging, interactive exercises and podcasts.  Role plays will be realistic--performed in a hospital simulation room with authentic equipment.  All texts and distributed materials are included in the tuition.

These intensive language programs will be held at the state-of-the-art facilities of Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing on Sixth Avenue at 27th Street in Manhattan.
