This online course, offered in Partnership with the College of Finance Planning meets the requirements of the Financial Plan Development course required by the CFP Board of Standards. Special emphasis is placed on identification of financial issues and integration of practical recommendations to improve the client's financial situation.
In addition, the course reviews some components of each of the various aspects of a financial plan, including analysis of cash flow
and balance sheet, income tax calculations, survivor needs, disability income issues, health issues, long-term care needs, property
and casualty risk management, education, other goals, retirement planning, estate planning, investment analysis, and portfolio
construction. The course lasts for 6 weeks and culminates in a presentation of the financial plan.

This course cover the fundamentals of income taxation, including planning and preparation for individuals and businesses. Property acquisition and disposition, tax advantaged investments and compensation issues, and tax traps are considered.

This course emphasizes the fundamentals of federal estate and gift taxation, as well as specific exclusion and valuation techniques that reduce the size of the gross estate.
